August 12
I just realized that I did not do a post for this date. Not much exciting to write about when the day was spent driving and doing laundry at the destination, Sheridan, Wy. 95 degrees! Not a good memory of how that feels! Housework does not end on an RV trip. You just have to do a bit of planning for your laundry schedule. Lol! And vacuuming takes about 5 minutes. No biggie! We stayed at a privately owned RV park, Peter D's. Wonderful spot to spend the night. Spotless showers and laundry and the friendliest host we have ever encountered.
However, here are a couple things of interest. We awoke to a low tire on the trailer, only had ten pounds in it! Thank goodness we were still parked at the Horsethief campground! They had a portable air compressor which they gladly loaned us to us for airing up the tire. Then they directed us to a tire and auto repair in Custer, a few miles away. We drove straight to Leo's and they removed the tired, found a screw in it and had it repaired and ready to roll again in about 20 to 30 minutes. Good guys! And then we were off.
We did not take the time or spend the money to go to the Crazy Horse monument. It is and will probably remain unfinished. The face has been unchanged for 40 years and most folks told us that it was not worth the entrance fee. However you can see it right from the highway.
Otherwise, an uneventful day.
