Day 9, August 11

Last day in the Black Hills of South Dakota.  I don't know what the eastern half of the state is like but this part has captured our hearts!  On Tuesday, we head over to Sheridan, Wyoming.  There we will just chill and do laundry.  Only about a 250 mile drive.  On Wednesday we head to Yellowstone for 6 nights.  Yay!  This has been a great trip so far.

The morning started with a trail ride.  I have not been on a horse in about 30 years but I have been really wanting to start riding.  Even looked at a horse to buy recently but decided that it would be best to really learn to ride and then go on some trail rides sometimes.  Too much money involved in owning a horse.  Had a great time today on the ride and was not afraid at all.  I grew up afraid of horses but that fear has disappeared and I'm now in love with horses.  I'm usually nervous when a horse does more than walk so I'm anxious to get past that.  My horse today was named "Semi".....funny name.  He was very sure-footed (thank goodness) but all we did was walk.  I'm anxious to do some more riding when I get home.  Gonna let Freddie teach me the ropes.

And some really pretty scenery of the Black Hills National Forest where we rode.

After lunch, we drove into the cute little town of Hill City, about 5 miles away.  Still plenty of bikes around even though the Sturgis rally ended yesterday.

And I'm still trying to get shots of interesting characters.  This is Ken.
